Requested post for acne sufferers: my skin :)

Hi lovelies! This is a requested post on how I overcame my acne. This maybe something you didn't know, but I have suffered from acne since the age of 12. My skin is the clearest it ever has been now, but I have suffered from severe cystic acne before. I have oily to combination skin. I'm not claiming I'm an expert, I'm not a dermatologist or a doctor, just a normal girl. This is just my experience and what has worked for me. This post isn't for all skin types, most teenagers have spots, but this post is for people who really suffer with their skin. Acne makes you feel less confident and I think the main thing is to realise that one day things will get better and it will calm down. Here are my tips if you suffer from bad acne.

1. Wash your face everyday GENTLY. Blackheads aren't caused by dirty skin, they are caused by oil which blocks up pores. If you don't wash your face at least once a day, the oils will build up and it's not good for your skin. On the other hand, if you wash your face too much, your skin will produce more oils because it is too dry. I recommend buying a cleanser for sensitive skin, a lot of cleansers give me a rash, I'm still looking for the perfect one but I will let you know when I have found it :)

2. Don't buy tons of spot treatments, look for the right ones! The trick to finding a good spot cream or gel, is to look at the ingredients. Things to look for are tea tree, benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid amongst many other things. If you, like me, have already bought a million spot products and none of them work for you, I would go to the doctors. I have had spot creams prescribed that work a treat! There are different percentages you can get, I would recommend asking for the gel though, the cream version of the one I have made my skin more oily.

3. Buy a pure astringent toner to tighten pores, which make blackheads appear smaller. The garnier one is my favourite (picture below). You can buy it from superdrug for £2.73 at the moment with free delivery!

4. Once a week or once a fortnight, depending on your skin, exfoliate and put on a deep pore cleansing mask. The montagne jesse ones are very good. Also the neutrogena 2 in 1 wash & mask is my favourite mask to use on a regular basis. (picture below).

5. If you have done all of this and your skin is still in bad condition, seek professional medical help. None of these really worked for me, I had to be put on a set of tablets that would reduce the amount of oil my skin created. If you want more information about this, tweet me ( @misssarahleanne ) and I will tell you the name of the tablets so you can discuss this option with your doctor. All these will (hopefully) help your skin but nothing is a miracle worker so you just need to find the right combination of products that work for your skin :)

Hope this helped some of you! If you want a current skincare post/video comment below and I will try to do one.

GOSSIP GIRL STYLE WEEK #7 - Blair Waldorf night time look :)

Hi lovelies :) Today's post is Blair Waldorf's night time style. Very much like her daytime looks, she wears classic feminine dresses. She wears a lot of reds, creams and dark colours. My all time favourite gossip girl outfit was the red oscar de le rente dress Blair wore in an episode from the fourth season. (You can see the dress top right corner of the collage).

I chose a purple dress for Blair because I think it really emphasises her gorgeous porcelain skin. I teamed it with a shocking red blazer from Tesco which just gives it that pop of colour and makes it look smarter. Blair is always wearing really unusual colour combinations as you can see from my last post (Blairs daytime look link below) so I thought I would encorporate this into her night look. I chose some nudey beige tbar shoes to complete the look, which I think add a real girly Blair feel. I could just see Blair wearing this outfit with a red headband to tie it all in, but I couldn't find a nice enough headband to go with this outfit atm :( If I ever find one, I shall add it in.

Comment with your opinion! Today is the last post in my Gossip Girl style series, hope you all liked it! Any suggestions for another series leave in the comments.

GOSSIP GIRL STYLE WEEK #6 - Charlie Rhodes/Ivy Dickens daytime look replica from the british highstreet :)

Charlie or Ivy Rhodes is probably my least favourite character from GG, but her style is lovely. She usually wears lots of pastel colours and neutrals. I am recreating one of her looks (far left picture) for less. Hope you all like it - comment with your opinion :)

GOSSIP GIRL STYLE WEEK #5 - Jenny Humphrey/Taylor Momsen girly grunge day look :)

Jenny has definitely changed the most fashion wise throughout the series. When we first meet Jenny in season 1, she wears basic clothes and hadn't found her style. She then evolves into a bright pop of colour, with a short choppy bob hairstyle. Since then she has grown into a woman, who now dresses mainly in black, with leather jackets and a rock n roll vibe.

For Jenny's look I have chosen a LBD with mesh at the top which is a little daring, which I think Jenny would love. I have teamed it with a leather jacket to make it more casual and a leather bag with studs on it. The studs really add to the whole look and make it more Jenny in my opinion. To contrast with the black, I have chosen a pink pair of shoes from Missguided, which are basically a rip off pair of JC Litas, but the pink is so amazing I had to include them.

Hope you enjoyed! Comment with your opinion! Tomorrow's post will be the final in the series, finishing with a night time Blair look. Links to my other looks are below:

GOSSIP GIRL STYLE WEEK #4 - Blair Waldorf day time look :)

Blair's style is very classic and feminine. She is rarely seen wearing trousers, opting for the more girly look wearing skirts, high heels and headbands. I absolutely love the way Blair dresses and I think this look has been my favourite to create so far over the Gossip Girl Style Week (other looks linked below).

The dress I chose for Blair is navy, which she wears a lot of. The skinny beige belt would draw attention to her tiny waist and ties in the beige accessories nicely. The shawl is made of quite a bit of material, so it will float nicely in the New York summer breeze ;) This look is very smart and chic so would be perfect for a day at the office or going for an interview I think.

Hope you liked it! Comment with your opinion :) Tomorrow's post will be a Jenny daytime look, then Tuesday will be a Charlie Rhodes/Ivy Dickens and then the final post on Wednesday will be a Blair nighttime look :D
