A long overdue update & blog makeover!

Long time no blog I know, you may remember me as "Beauty by Sarah Leanne,", yes I've changed my URL! I wanted something that would cover fashion and lifestyle so that I didn't just get to write about beauty, however much I love it, it can get a bit superficial at times. I am now "Beauty, books and fairy dust" :) Thank you to all of you who have stuck with me over the summer, I haven't been blogging much. I would say I have been busy. But my summer has consisted mostly, of being lazy and getting jobs done.

If you don't already, follow me on instagram @misssarahleanne

& I went backstage at some concerts!
Here are a few photos I took...
The sister and I. #weirdfaces

I met one direction! I will be giving away a signed photo on my magazine Gossip Candy. Follow us on twitter for details nearer the time. @GossipCandyMag

Watching 1D front of stage!

Joel from Lawson and I :)

The lovely Wretch 32 (he recognised me ahhhhhh #fangirl)

To see how I manage to get backstage and all my reviews on the gigs I went to, check out the Gossip Candy website linked above :)

What do you guys think of my new header? I designed it myself...on paint. How fancy. Hahaha. I'm no paint shop genius or whatever you kids are using to design blogs these days... so I just spent five minutes and voila.

And after...

How are you guys anyway? If you follow me on twitter @misssarahleanne you will know the purple hair is no longer! Gahh, I miss it already :( But we had a new bathroom and I was sick of having purple stained sheets and a purple stained face. I'm back blonde. Brassy. But blonde. I shall be doing a post on my hair very soon.

I got my results!! For those of you who stuck by me through my exams and even read my exam posts, here they are! The hard work finally paid off :) Now off to sixth form! I am studying biology, chemistry, spanish and maths for any of you who were wondering.
I shall get on and stop procrastinating. Tomorrow is my first day at sixth form and I haven't got anything done. My mum's cooking shepherds pie aswell. My belly is calling me.

Bye for now! See you soon :)

MUA haul! :)

Hello lovelies :) Sorry I haven't written on here in a while, I've been busy running errands and sorting out my humungous wardrobes of crap! Haha. :)

I ordered a few bits from a few days ago, so I thought I would share with you all.

I love this yellow nail polish! I have been looking for one that isn't too harsh a colour and I think I have found it. It was a bargain aswell for only £2. I'll let you know how I get on with it!

Next up, seen as I already have one MUA lipgloss and I love it, I bought two other shades.
(Shade 3 left, shade 5 right) I have swatched them below for you, as you can see shade 3 is very sheer, I had to swatch it about 10 times for it come up this colour. Shade 5 on the other hand is very pigmented.
£1 each.

Now for the thing I placed the order for in the first place...

MUA have recently launched a new palette, which is an amazing dupe for the naked palette. As a student, I can't afford to pay £30 for a palette, so I was very excited when MUA released this for a mere £4! The shades are absolutely gorgeous! I haven't tried it out yet but plan to do a whole other post, reviewing the palette and maybe even a tutorial :P

How is your summer going? Mine is going great so far, it feels so good to be able to do whatever I want instead of having to revise :) Lol.

Thanks for reading!

77 days of summer, exams over, backstage at festivals and update! :)

Hello lovelies,

I can't believe it's been over 7 weeks since I last blogged! :( As some of you know I have taught myself the past year for my last GCSE's so the past 7 weeks have been so stressful. I have mainly kept going through coffee, cake and the fact I have 77 days of summer off. My last exam was today and now I am free from exams for the rest of the summer :) Woooohooooooo!

Aside from exams, everything else has been hectic too! My little sister, Rosie, was in hospital on the busiest week of my exams with appendicitis. She has had her appendix out and is on the mend, insisting she gets back to school after only a week off! Hahaha.

With Rosie poorly and I half dead, I don't know how we managed this weekend, but we went backstage at Stoke 2012 Live for my teen magazine Gossip Candy. I plan to do a full blog post with photos soon, but here are some of the photos of us I have uploaded so far :)

Instagram updatesss

Starbucks after a long weekend // Icecream from the harbour bar // Walkie Talkies for backstage // My momma's homemade frothy coffee and Rosie's moonrocks as revision snacks // The pet pigeon who has decided to live with us. Appropriately now named, "Pidge."

I hope you are all having a lovely summer and good luck if you have exams left!

Lots of love,
Sarah xxxxxx

Weekly update: being ill, professor green gig and meeting millie mackintosh (made in chelsea)! :)

This week has been full of ups and downs, mostly ups though. I have been ill all week with numerous ulcers on my tonsils (AGAIN). It's so frustrating, it always happens when I have language speaking exams coming up! I'm doing spanish speaking and writing exams on Monday, wish me luck :)

During the week I spent most of the time revising, 51 days of exams left! I am so excited for summer and all the concerts I have planned :) Eeeep. :)

I BOUGHT AN IPAD this week, the 2nd generation one! :D What a faf we had trying to get it, I was trying to get it on a discount but the money wasn't discounted so I had to ring up customer services which was tiringggg, but I can't wait for it to be delivered next week! If you have any iPad app recommendations, please leave them below.

Friday night I went to go see Professor Green at Leeds O2 academy. What a night! We started off running late as usual, ate thompsons fish and chips on the way in york, which by the way are the best fish and chips I have EVER tasted. We then got to the concert and got the best seats in the house. We were sat on the balcony in disabled, right next to the VIP area, looking down onto the stage. All of Pro Green's mates were watching it right next to us, but guess who we spotted.... Millie from Made In Chelsea! Made In Chelsea is one of my many obsessions and she is one of my favourite people on there, so it topped off the night meeting her, she was so lovely and even swayed with us in tune when read all about it came on. :'D

My sister, Millie and I. (I look sooo pale! Haha.)

Pro was amazing live again and the atmosphere was the best, I love my little Leeds O2 Academy, it's by far the best venue I have ever been to for people with a disability. Pro seemed to enjoy himself aswell, although he did bust his ankle trying to crowd surf, which was funny :) Don't think his security were pleased about it though, hehe.

Today has been a lovely day aswell, spent it talking about last night and watching the mentalist for my media exam. I am now writing this blog post, waiting for my dinner and to watch The Voice. If you haven't already noticed I am a MASSIVE Jessie J fan and am loving watching it every week!

I hope you have all had an amazing week too,

Mini ELF haul :)

Hi m'lovelies! Hope you have had a wonderful day! I am currently writing this blog post next to the window, I love the rain! Not when I'm outside in it, but sitting inside nice and toasty, I think it's my second favourite kind of weather, after sun... Scratch that. I just heard a tapping noise coming from the spare room. The doorway is leaking! Hahaha.

Anyways, I ordered a few bits from elf over the weekend whilst it was free delivery and thought I would share with you all.

The first thing I picked up was a "powder brush" from the elf studio range. After hearing so many good things about it I thought I would buy one to use as a buffing brush for foundation, because that's what Gracie (from Ugly Face Of Beauty - links below) uses it for. I don't wear foundation a lot so I didn't want to invest in an expensive one until I know I'll get good use out of it! I'll try to do an foundation routine post soon but I have so many exams at the moment it's hard to find the time for blogging.

Next up, I got a matte lip colour pen (also from the studio range) in tea rose. I think this looks so pretty and can't wait to wear it :)

I have been looking around for a good taupey/nude coloured nail polish for a while, so when I saw this, I snapped it up. (Nail Polish in "Desert Haze")

I also got it in Lilac- perfect for the spring pastel trend :)

Leave me any ELF product recommendations in the comments :) Thanks for reading!

Love, Sarah xxxxxxx

Revision tips and BRB! :)

Hi lovelies!

I'm so sorry I haven't posted a lot recently :( I have 9 GCSE exams left before I finish secondary school (high school in America) so have had to bury myself in revision. I thought I would take a break tonight and do a revision tips post for all you fellow exam sufferers :) Hope you all enjoy, Sarah xxx

I will be staying off my blog for a while, :'( but you might get the odd post! My last exam is June the 18th and from then on I will be blogging EVERY DAY in the summer :')

ps. If you're last minute revising/cramming scroll down for my tips on that :)

It's all in the preparation....
Sleep :)
Before you are going to revise make sure you get plenty of sleep. An average person needs 8 hours, so make sure you get yours! Without sleep you aren't going to retain any information so it makes revision pointless!

Eat :)
I know a lot of us girls are self concious when it comes to weight, but exams are no time for dieting! Allow yourself to eat as much as you want, make sure you get plenty of fruit and veg to prevent getting run down before the exams.

Plan :)
I know it's hard to plan in advance, because if you're reading this you're probably panic-googling at 4am in the morning. Plan as much as you can and don't forget to plan in little treats to reward yourself with :) I have a laminated piece of paper I use as a whiteboard to count how many days I have left till each exam:

Buy the right equipment!
I have always bought the right books that condense the stuff I need to know for my exam board. It saves a lot of time and although they can be costly, your education is an investment - indulge!

Things to buy:
♥ Books
♥ Brightly coloured pens
♥ Flashcards
♥ Folders for organising
♥ Post-it-notes (specifically pagemarkers!)

Actual revising
I have found that I revise best by making notes and visualising things, so that is what I tend to do. Different subjects require different things, for example, for my spanish listening exam I have downloaded lots of past exams to listen to on my iphone when I am out and about. Some people find it easier to revise in a tidy environment, I on the otherhand like it so I can see everything I need to, which means my room is a pig stye most of the time! Haha.

For my sciences, I tend to make posters, here is some I am working on atm:

Don't let things distract you! :) But remember to take regular breaks! Some people work best with music or working with a partner, I tend to work best on my own, in quiet whilst eating :P Here are some of my snacks:

Last minute cramming

For some people last minute cramming doesn't work because they panic. I on the otherhand am usually cramming like hell the night before each exam. But I have problems with my long term memory so that's probably why! If you are cramming, here's a BIG HUG and keep working hard! I like to cram in comfy clothes and get in a comfortable position before you start. Make sure you have lots of coffee, rest and most of all.... CAKE!

Try not to get too stressed, exams aren't the end of the world, you can only do your best :) Good luck! Hugs
I hope I have helped, if not and you're now depressed, here's something that made me laugh:

PS I know this may seem geeky to half of you, but I actually try hard and want to do well in my exams, so no hating please!

Hair update :)

Hi lovelies! Just a quick post to show you my new hair.

From this....

It then faded out to this and I had it cut into a Jessie J-esque bob...
I then used La Riche Directions in Plum...

To  get this... (sorry about the light, I was rushing to get to the concert :) It does look much brighter in day light outside, I'll try and get some better pictures soon, but here they are for now :) The dye worked REALLY well although it says it takes better on bleached hair. I am so excited to try out the different colours! The only thing was it stained the bathroom, the shower curtain, the towels and my bed sheets and I'm pretty neat with hair dying, so you better be careful. (oops :P ) Don't get it on your skin it doesn't come off! Haha.

Lovely photo bombing from my little sister there :') Hahahaha.

My mum and I at Leeds O2 academy for Emeli Sande.
Overall, I'm really happy with the result, it doesn't show how purple it is on camera :( but I love it! What colour do you think suits me best? And what colour should I go next? Opinions in the comments please :D
Here are some pics of the concert if you're interested :D

The concert was amazing!
Here's a better pic of my hair. I think it really expresses my personality now I love it :) I'll probably be another colour by next month though! Haha.

Hope you all like it, don't worry I'll go back blonde eventually :) Until next time,
Sarah xxxxxxxxxxxx
